Privacy Statement

Criminal Information Services, Inc. (CRIS) provides access to public information and other proprietary data to organizations for the purpose of screening individuals for criminal backgrounds.

The information that Criminal Information Services, Inc. makes available to its customers is:

1. Public record information obtained directly from governmental entities or from reputable third parties who have compiled public record information from governmental agencies.

2. Certain non-public information. Access to non-public information is strictly limited to organizations who have obtained permission from the subject of said information.

CRIS' policy is to limit access to non-public information to organizations that can demonstrate an appropriate use for the information and agree to abide by all local and federal laws regarding the use and dissemination of such information. CRIS maintains physical and electronic systems to protect information from unauthorized access and persons who may exceed their authorization.

In addition to the material posted on this website, CRIS supports the education efforts undertaken by various industry associates and CRIS uses reasonable efforts to make consumers aware of the public policy issues and benefits associated with the responsible use of public and non-public information.

Security Statement

CRIS has implemented multiple security defenses to ensure Internet-based network protection. We have multiple routers, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems in place to ensure all network access is authorized. Those systems, along with comprehensive e-mail scanning, SPAM filtering, and enterprise-wide anti virus, provide a strong defense to protect our data.

CRIS uses customer provided identification data ONLY for the purpose of establishing the identity of the subject of the screening. Such data (names, birth date, SSN, address) is not collected for resale or otherwise release. CRIS will only use such information for the intended purpose of criminal background screening.
