Our Data

We at CRIS Inc. believe that providing the most accurate, up to date, available public information is what we do best. In that Public Information is limited and was not designed with the intent of public availability, we have worked hard to present and package our information and reports in a way that is accurate, but easily interpreted by the public. We offer knowledgeable researchers available to help with any questions or concerns your agency might have.

There is a widespread misunderstanding about the sources of criminal background information in the United States. Most information is not considered "public Record" and is difficult for the public to access. The National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and the FBI are the only true national databases. Information can be obtained through them, but the process usually requires the subject's written approval as well as a fingerprint card. There is usually a significant fee and a lengthy waiting period, all of which preclude most of the public from accessing the information. A due diligence search through public record databases provide immediate information to help with your hiring, leasing or volunteer placement decisions.

Our databases, 1,300 agencies and counting, includes but is not limited to local police agencies, courts, corrections agencies, police agencies, national sex offender registries, federal correctional agencies and international organizations.
